Well, it is a long story and some day we may tell it here on our website. Here is the short story version. Our house was not ready when we left for Alaska in early May, but we did move all of our belongings into the house before leaving. We expected and were led to believe it would be ready upon our return. Well, very little was done while we were gone, and sawdust covered all of our belongings. End of story, other than to say that Ann and I are now the general contractors trying to finish our house ourselves. It now looks like we will be able to move in the first or second week of November. Until then, gracious friends in the community have opened there homes up to us, so we have been house-sitting for quite a while.
Early in 2002, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Needless to say, once you have heard the big "C" word, your perspective on life changes quite a bit. I kept a dairy during the process to keep everyone informed as to my health status. Everyone means well, but you do get tired of having to repeat yourself over and over again. I think it worked fairly well. Now I keep those written words to keep reminding remind me of how precious life really is. If you have never had a colonoscopy and are over 50 years of age, call your doctor immediately to schedule one!! It could save your life. It did mine.
This is my first attempt at creating a website. It contains a lot of family stuff and things that have primarily occurred since retirement.
